• Black History Month

  St. Mark's has had a busy month celebrating Black History Month. Our visitor on Monday was Marvin who shared his journey from a student who found the wrong options to a man who was in his third year as a law student. Marvin reminded us that you can learn from your mistakes as your mistakes do not define you.

  We ended the week wearing clothes from our cultures, sharing creative learning experiences and foods from different cultures. 

  We are all unique and wonderfully made.

• 100% attendance

  We were delighted to celebrate 100% attendance for the 25/26 year with some of our children. They had already received special gifts and were able to take part in a special meal.

  Year 3 went back in time and imagined that they were creating cave painting art. They did a great job!

  

• INSPIRE visitor: October

  Dean Wright shared his vocational journey with us. He is an accountant who has worked in 5 different banks. He explained that maths helps to tell a story. He is also a pastor at his church.

  

• Class visit: Tower of London

  Year 5 went to the Tower of London and shared their knowledge with a very special guest from the past.

  

• New Year, New start!

• 11B411: Messing about on (frozen) water

  Year 5 & 6 went to Streatham Ice rink to enjoy messing about on (frozen) water as one of the 11B411 promises. It was the first time a lot of the children had been ice skating and it took some time for them to become confident. Some needed a little help from the penguins!

  

• Reward: Attendance & Punctuality

  We promised and we delivered! From the beginning of the year, we promoted going to Chessington World of Adventures as a reward for having 97% attendance or higher.  We challenged the children to be in school daily and on time. 87 of our children rose to the challenge and were able to have a fun day out. Next year, the challenge is to take all the children as they will all make at least 97% attendance.

  

• Inspire Day

  Every year, Mr Arnold  Sarfo-Kantanka, supports our Inspire day by bringing professionals and creatives into school, who will inspire our children to plan and think about their future.

  The children of St. Mark's dressed up as their future selves. We saw pilots, doctors, police, musicians, artists and 1 jockey!

  • Sinitta Sarfo-Kantanka – Partner, We Make Footballers South London and Investment Management Specialist.

  Sonia delivered the final message of the day to children as she shared her journey from child to adult and gave them four things to think about:

  1: Believe in yourself.

  2. Keep learning.

  3. Help others.

  4. Be brave

  May God give all of our children the reality of their dreams coming true.
